We have all made it through another academic year. I hope that you and your children have loved being a part of Team Eling and you have enjoyed watching your children grow and change. Mrs Sillence and the entire team work tirelessly to make your children’s days productive and worthwhile and are always thinking of new experiences to enrich their days and make learning fun. From a governor perspective, they make our lives easier by making it such a beautiful school where children genuinely thrive not only academically but emotionally too. I’m sure you will join me in thanking them for all their hard work.

It has been a year of transition for me as I am no longer a parent at Eling, and I have to say that I do miss it. I have enjoyed the opportunity to come into the school and still be a part of Eling. Your children are always a delight, are so welcoming and ask the most wonderful questions. I have been lucky to be able to help at some sporting events and some of you may have seen me in my ‘Team Eling’ jumper, which I love! The children always represent the school so well with their team spirit, kindness and consideration towards each other and their willingness to always try new things. That is the spirit of Eling Infant School.

Our PTA have worked so hard behind the scenes this year to raise funds for the school to enrich the children’s experiences. They have been massively let down by our weather with heavy showers at Christmas and then a heatwave for our summer fayre. This was the biggest shame as it is such a lovely event and brings everyone together. Thank you for all your support and please don’t shy away from joining in, they always need help. I have enclosed a photo of Ellen, our Vice-Chair of governors, and I at the Mother’s Day sale earlier in the year enjoying being part of it all.

The school will be sad to say goodbye to our lovely year 2’s, some of whom have been here since nursery and so are a big part of the school. We would like to wish them well in their respective junior schools and I’m sure they will be great representatives of Eling Infant School. I hope that they have good memories of their time that they will reflect on later, as my children do.

We do have a couple of governor vacancies now and so if it’s something you may have thought about, please speak to me or Mrs. Sillence. Don’t be discouraged if you think you may not have certain skills as there is training provided and we are a very supportive group. Our focus is always the success of the children, so if you feel like you could contribute to that, get involved.
